We are becoming a nation of idiots.  My firm belief is that one of the reasons our children cannot spell is because marketing people have created business names, products names, adverts, and slogans with words that are simply not part of the English language.  Today, for example, I received an email from Apple touting the new iPod Touch.  Here’s the headline:

iPod touch.  The funnest iPod ever.

Funnest.  Great word, that.  Only it doesn’t exist.  These ad folks are creating a nation of people who think that words like “funnest” are proper English.  All the education policies in the world can’t fight that.
