What do you think is important?

I was just watching CNN and they carried the following two stories:

1.  Folks are threatening to boycott the Oprah show because Oprah won’t have Sarah Palin on her show during this campaign season;

followed by

2.  A 21 year old woman is putting her virginity up to the highest bidder.

Which one do you think is more important / frightening / newsworthy?

For the record, here’s Oprah’s quote on hosting Palin:

“I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”  And, “”There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show.”

Winfrey has declared that she will not host any of the Presidential or VP candidates, given her stated support for Barack Obama.

Regarding the 21 year old virgin, you can read that story at US Magazine.  It’s not just frightening that she’s auctioning off her virginity at a brothel to the highest bidder, but that she’s doing this *to pay for school.*  Perhaps we need to revisit the candidates’ education plans ….

Update:  She must have had a birthday.  Isn’t it amazing!  The first reports listed this young woman at 21, but everything out now seems to have her at 22.  The story’s just as tragic at either age.
