Another win for civil rights

The Connecticut Supreme Court has overturned a state wide ban against gay marriage.  Connecticut is the third state, after California and Massachusetts, in which same-sex marriage is now legal.  Because this issue is a state Constitutional issue, it cannot be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court.  Another victory for civil rights.  Right on.

Right on, dude

I’m not a Brad Pitt swooner.  Not my type.  But today, he’s my kind of guy.

Pitt has donated $100k to help fight Proposition 8 in California, a measure to make same sex marriage illegal.  From Pitt’s statement:

“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8.”
